As a kid I'd spend summer days at our town pool in Texas. To survive the heat I'd play endless rounds of Marco Polo, launch canon balls off the high dive, and try to finish popsicles before they melted. My sisters and I started racing in swim meets when we were four. Every summer we earned shiny ribbons that we pinned to our bulletin boards. My racing peeked at thirteen when I qualified for a statewide meet in the 200-meter breaststroke. As the sport got more demanding, I gave in to teenage laziness and quit. Swimming became something "I used to do." Racing sank farther into my past during college, career, marriage and kids. Then we moved to the New Jersey suburbs...and joined the town pool. I stared at the cool water that first summer, knowing that swimming laps could help relieve the stress of balancing career and family. Away from people and my phone, the water drowned out the noise of children fussing. The water soothed kids' tantrums, and cooled down my temper. My worries sank into the deep end, and resurfaced bathed in perspective. Then I could relax and enjoy the social experience of a community pool -- chatting with neighbors and meeting new people.
In 2015 I left my job to pursue consulting. I wasn't exactly modeling good
habits for my kids when I was still in my pajamas as got they got home from
school. I needed a routine to get me out of the house, and found a swim
instruction job at my local YMCA. Having a business background I saw
opportunity to teach swimming independently. Now Iām managing the growth of
LifeCycle Swimming, bringing safety, fitness and happiness to a diverse group
of people. I'm excited to create innovative swim and water safety
instruction coursed in the on-line education marketplace. Credentials:
